Day 4 - Game Drive at Shinde

At our much-appreciated lunch, an elephant goes wandering by the camp, easily visible to the naked eye as well as the camera lens. We take some photographs of the elaborate camp itself, and settle in with our laptops before our afternoon drive.

During tea, we feed many noisily appreciative birds, and one rather more timid squirrel. Then it is just me and Cesca on our game drive; we pass some sesaby, dark brown, settled in the grass, and get very close to a herd of zebra, who go galloping by in front of us. A family of baboons goes prowling through the underbrush, but they avoid our noisy car; they do not suffer from the same selective blindness as the zebra and antelope.

A large bull elephant allows us to approach him; he just continues eating, unbothered, his trunk reaching up eagerly to pull down leaves from overhead. A pair of two warthogs are almost absurdly funny, down on their front knees rooting in the dirt for tender grass shoots.
